Yesterday, after a full day setting up for a conference in heals, I decided to invest in some new flats for the big event. House of Fraser has a great discount on shoe’s at the moment, ‘Save On Soles’. Check out my new Kurt Geiger Melissa Ultragirl Sweet pumps, reduced from to £45 (saved 25!). Very Vivienne Westwood I thought! Great for a smart casual look at work, or with jeans when the weather warms up this Spring.
There were lots of amazing dresses at the Oscars … and some of bad ones. Poor Melissa looks like she’s had a bed sheet thrown over her! The fabric and shape of the dress does nothing for her figure. The best way to dress a Triangle is in separates, like a bodice and skirt – keeping the bottom half simple and clean, and dressing up the top with detail around the shoulders and neckline. She’s a beautiful Clear so contrasting colours would look amazing on her, like a pattern which also adds interest. A big pattern on a grand figure suits their scale perfectly. Could do better … !
If you fancy an action packed day out with your girlfriends or just on your own, I highly recommend getting down to London Fashion Weekend in Somerset House.
I spent the whole day there yesterday, having my make-up done by French artist Joseph Hernandez (Catherine Zeta-Jones’ guy!), my eye brows shaped by Benefit, and nails done free by Nail Inc. And that was just the pampering!
I also took in 4 talks; Elizabeth Arden on how to create an Urban Chic look; Elle magazine on the current beauty trends; Radley handbags as seen on the catwalks; and Snap online fashion on how to start up a fashion business.
And, like a big, thirsty sponge, I absorbed everything I could about the key looks coming in for Spring/Summer 2013 at the trend catwalk show. Look out for Graphic Art, Urban Lifestyle, Eastern Promise and Dolls House elements making their way to the high street.
I’ll be focussing on these, and many other micro trends, at my Style Update on the 9th March. So if you can’t make it to the real thing, come along and find out how you can wear this season’s new trends, and where shop for them!
At the Brits last night didn’t Emeli Sande look so much better once she changed out of black into a funky light and warm bomber jacket?! Perfect for her colouring and bang on trend. But why do so many celebs wear so much black? Don’t get me wrong, I love Coco Chanel for giving us the little black dress. But surely if you had money and a stylist, you’d want to wear something a bit more interesting … ?!
Today is the final day of London Fashion Week. I particularly enjoyed Simone Rocha’s new collection with simple lines made interesting with unique textures and fabric twists, inspired by both her Chinese and Irish grannies. We’ve seen so many amazing designers in the last 5 days but now on to Milan tomorrow!
Day 4 marks the London Fashion Week debut of Tom Ford as well as shows from Erdem and Christopher Kane. But I’m most excited about the presentations from NEWGEN designers Sophia Webster shoes. She’s the new wonder of the fashion world and the footwear talent everyone’s talking about!
If you like heels, the movies Clueless and Narnia (where she gets her inspiration from!), and have a couple of hundred pounds burning a hole in your bank account … check out her collection at net-a-porter.
As New York Fashion Week ends, another begins. Tomorrow is the start of London Fashion Week. The hottest ticket in town is Tom Ford’s new collection showcasing on Tuesday. But before then there are plenty of others to look forward to including Felder Felder, Orla Kiely, John Rocha, Jasper Conran, Sister by Sibling, Mulberry, Vivienne Westwood and much more.
This is an exciting time when we get a glimpse of the styles of the year ahead. What designers are you looking forward to seeing most … ?
